Exam Progression Rules

There are four exam cycles a year for both CBE (F5 - F9) and paper-based exams. Students are allowed to take a maximum of 4 exams during each exam cycle across a maximum of 8 distinct exams over the course of a calendar year. These can be a combination of computer-based and paper-based exams.

Exam Cycles

For the four sessions in 2016 and all future sessions they'll be:

• March session: 1 Jan - 31 March
• June session: 1 April - 30 June
• September session: 1 July - 30 September
• December session: 1 Oct - 31 December

These sessions are in line with the exemption closing dates.

 

On-Demand CBE

On-demand Computer Based Exams (CBEs) are available for the first seven papers within the foundation-level qualifications and the F1-F4 (English and Global) exams of the ACCA qualification. Please remember that you must be registered with ACCA prior to being entered for on-demand CBEs.

Modular Order

Exams must be taken in modular order for the ACCA Qualification, however you can attempt the papers within each module in any order. These rules are in place to guide students on an appropriate path through the ACCA Qualification. Ultimately they help students progress through our exams, as they ensure that students build on their learning and are taking the most appropriate exams based on where they are on their student journey.

The modular order for the ACCA Qualification is:

• Knowledge module (F1-F3)
• Skills module (F4-F9)
• Professional module (Essentials P1-P3 and Options P4-P7)

If your exam allows you to enter for exams across modules, please remember that you must enter for outstanding exams in your current module if you wish to enter to sit papers in the next module. For example should you have passed exams F1-F8, if you wish to sit P1 you must also enter for F9 at the same exam booking.

 

Time Limits to Exam Components of the ACCA Qualification

ACCA is introducing important changes to the time limit allowed to students for completing the exam component of the ACCA Qualification. Under the current rules, students are removed from the register if they have not completed the exams within 10 years of their initial registration date.

Under the new rules a seven year time limit will be introduced at the Professional level. Therefore, there are no time limits for passing the Foundation level exams as part of Foundations in Accountancy or for taking exams F1-F9 at the Fundamentals level of the ACCA Qualification. However, ACCA strongly recommend students take exams on a regular basis as this increases the chances of success.

Students will have seven years to pass the exams at Professional level (P1, P2 and P3 and two of the options paper P4-P7). If a student does not pass all the Professional level exams within seven years, they will lose any passes that were achieved more than seven years ago and will need to retake. The seven year time limit starts when a student passes their first Professional level exam.

Qualifications Gained Whilst Studying Towards Membership

Diploma in Accounting and Business

You gain a Diploma in Accounting and Business when you pass:

• the first three exams of the ACCA Qualification (F1, F2 and F3)
• the Foundations in Professionalism ethics module.

Depending on when you take your ethics module, you could get this award in 6-12 months.

 

Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business

You gain the Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business when you pass:

• all the exams in the Fundamentals level (F1-F9)
• the Professional Ethics module (to be replaced from 31/10/2017 by the new Ethics and Professional Skills)

Depending on when you take your exams and ethics module, you could get this award in 12-18 months.

 

What Enhanced Qualifications Can You Get?

You can also combine the ACCA Qualification with getting a degree:

BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Accounting

Get a degree at the same time as becoming a qualified accountant through ACCA partnership with Oxford Brookes University. This is the perfect way to gain an extra qualification without doubling your workload.

Exam Regulations

The following rules on conduct apply to students sitting paper-based and computer-based exams, as well as those taking internally-assessed ACCA courses.

• You are required to adhere at all times to the examination regulations and guidelines, below.
• You are required to comply in all respects with any instructions issued by the exam supervisor/s, invigilator/s and any ACCA personnel before and during an exam.
• You may not attempt to deceive the exam supervisor/s, invigilator/s and ACCA personnel by giving false or misleading information.
• You are not allowed to take to your exam desk any books, notes or other materials (except those outlined in the guidelines below). These are known as 'unauthorised materials'.
• You are not allowed to possess, use, or intend/attempt to use, any unauthorised materials while the exam is in progress (whether at your desk or otherwise).
• You are not permitted to use a dictionary or an electronic translator of any kind or have on or at your desk a calculator which can store or display text. You are also not permitted to use mobile phones, electronic communication devices or any item with smart technology functionality in the examination hall. These are known as "unauthorised items" and are taken into the examination hall at the candidates own risk. ACCA accepts no responsibility for their loss or damage. Such items must not be worn, or be placed on your desk, in pockets of clothing, in your bag or personal belongings, or be kept anywhere else on or about your person. If you bring a mobile phone, communication device or any item with smart technology functionality with you to your examination, you must declare this to the examination personnel upon entering the examination hall. You must switch the phone or electronic communication device off and disable any alarms or notifications. You must then follow the instructions given to you by the examination personnel.
• (a) If you breach exam regulation 4 and/or 5 and the 'unauthorised materials' are relevant to the syllabus being examined, it will be assumed that you intended to use them to gain an unfair advantage in the exam. In any subsequent disciplinary proceedings, you will have to prove that you did not intend to use the unauthorised materials to gain an unfair advantage in the exam.
  
  (b) If you breach exam regulation 6, it will be assumed that you intended to use the 'unauthorised items' to gain an unfair advantage in the exam. In any subsequent disciplinary proceedings, you will have to prove that you did not intend to use the 'unauthorised items' to gain an unfair advantage in the exam.
• You may not assist, attempt to assist, obtain or attempt to obtain assistance by improper means from any other person during your exams.
• You are required to comply with the ruling of supervisor/s, invigilator/s and any ACCA personnel. They are obliged to report any cases of irregularity or improper conduct to ACCA. They are also empowered to discontinue your exam if you are suspected of misconduct and to exclude you from the exam hall.
• You may not engage in any other unprofessional conduct designed to assist you in your exam attempt.
• If you are sitting paper-based examinations, you are not permitted to remove either your candidate answer booklet(s) or your question paper from the exam room. All candidate answer booklets remain the property of ACCA. If you are taking a computer-based exam you are not permitted to remove any working paper issued to you. All exam working paper remain the property of ACCA. You are also not permitted to copy exam questions. Copying questions and removing them from the exam room is prohibited.
• If you attempt to gain an unfair advantage in the exam (whether by breaching an exam regulation or otherwise) you are likely to be removed from ACCA's student register following disciplinary proceedings.
• Candidates must not talk to, or attempt to communicate with, other candidates during the exam under any circumstances.
• You must not attempt to obtain and/or obtain your examination results prior to ACCA's official published results release date.

These regulations are reproduced on your Examination Attendance Docket – you should take time to familiarise yourself with them. In order to be eligible to sit your exams you must sign your docket confirming your agreement to comply with these regulations.

Our Unique Approach

We afford you the opportunity to attain your ACCA qualification in a unique way through extended learning hours and extending the core modules with our range of study options such as our Digital Learning Support Services, which utilises modern technologies such as Skype, IM and Email to support your studies. We are also firm believers in the adage “practise makes perfect” which is why we adopt a mixture of both academic and practical approach to teaching.

 

ACCA PROGRAMMES

This course is normally available to all nationals but non-EU students may require a UK Short Term Visa. The ordinary 'short-term student' category will allow you to come to the UK if you are 18 years or older, and want to enter:

• for up to 6 months to study a short course OR
• for up to 11 months to study an English language course OR
• if you are enrolled on a course abroad that is at least equivalent to the level of a UK bachelor's degree, you can enter for up to 6 months to do research, or to receive tuition on how to conduct research, at a UK institution

Employment is usually allowed but restricted on this type of visa

 

Our ACCA programmes' timetable structure may require a 3 - 9 hours per week mode of attendance but with our extended learning hours, student can expect to gain an additional 10 hours of study time.

 

Course Outline

Fundamentals Knowledge Module (F1, F2 and F3)

This programme prepares you for the external examinations of the ACCA in March, June, September or December at Amity College.

 

Our one year and three months programme covers the entire ACCA papers. The Fundamentals Level is taught in the initial nine months of study. The Knowledge Module (Papers F1, F2 and F3) of the Fundamentals Level constitute the first semester of the course (8 to 10 weeks duration, 3 hours per week per module i.e. 9 hours per week in total for all three modules). Students then completes the Skills Module (F4 - F9) within the second and third semester.

Alternatively, those completing the Professional Level papers from the previous year can take any two Options Module in the first semester of the current year to complete their course.
